HUGE congratulations to Gemma Laurelle for her excellent work in voicing the latest EVE Online expansion trailer.
It’s such a great invitation to what’s to come, in a game that’s been going strong for nearly a decade now.
You can listen to episode 4 with the incredible Cissy Jones right now, over on Apple Podcast (or wherever you prefer to get your pods)
In a delightful turn of events, I’m now working with Gemma Laurelle and Jessica Hutchinson to put together the Yes We’re Going To Go There podcast, talking with incredible folks about their personal journeys. Getting to sit down and talk with Cissy Jones was...
This week’s update. Spreading the good word re: Kinder World’s Kickstarter, and a handy link to launch Daily Boost.
I’m super-excited to share that I’m now represented by BigMouth Voices! You can now hire me directly via BigMouth’s site to give your next project the voice it deserves, and enjoy the benefit of it all being managed by an awesome team.
I’m looking forward to a long and fruitful relationship together, and good times ahead! It can feel lonely sometimes moving forward as a voice actor, and you’re always the most important...
So I’ve mentioned the upcoming Voice Up! workout over on the Facebook page, but not over here, which is remiss of me. So here goes. Next weekend I’ll be one small part of an amazing weekend of learning for video game voice over, and it just got a whole lot more awesome!
Doug Cockle, the gent whose performance was so iconic that Henry Cavill used it as a roadmap for finding the Witcher’s voice...
The very happiest of birthdays to awesome human being, dear friend and regular collaborator Gemma Laurelle, who celebrated her birthday recently.
Here’s to this year being far better than the last, even with her incredible ability to find the positive in situations like 2020.
Now, because Gemma’s the kind of person who gives you presents on her birthday, I’ve popped the trailer for Per Aspera below. You can find Gemma’s work in there alongside...
A great light has gone out in the voice acting world, folks. Brad Venable will be dearly missed.
It’s with great sadness that Brad’s passing is marked. I never had the pleasure of knowing him myself, but he was friend to so many friends of mine, and the incredible outpouring of love and sadness throughout the voice acting community speaks so highly of the kind of person he was.
If you’d like to remember...
A huge congratulations to Belinda Coomes for her work on the Ring of Pain soundtrack being listed in a closer listen’s best video game soundtracks of 2020!
Belinda does fantastic work, and has an incredible facility with horror. It’s no surprise and an absolute testament to her work ethic and hustle to see her name in the company of Austin Wintory, Darren Korb & Max LL. I’m super-lucky to be in the same...
Here’s a handy place if you’re looking to sign up to the Tavern of Voices mailing list.
This week’s update, celebrating the launch of Daily Boost and looking ahead to the end of 2020.
While I’m beavering away on Tavern Blackjack, I’ve taken a few hours out here and there to check out the new Bithell Games short, The Solitaire Conspiracy.
It’s a delightful puzzle game that adds some new mechanics and some fun narrative on top of classic Solitaire. Highly recommended, doesn’t overstay its welcome, and leaves you with some fun score challenge modes. It’s 20% off for the next week on Steam, so put your peepers...
It has felt more important recently to give over space to world events and their discussion, and keep fairly quiet on social media. But I’ve realised that not sharing what I’m excited about tilts the balance that much further towards doom and negativity. So I’ve got something to share I’m very excited about!
As well as providing premium voice acting services, Tavern of Voices is now producing its own content! You can pop...
Audiogame Jam 2020 kicks off tonight. For two weeks, teams will be working together remotely to build games centered around audio. If you’re jamming, I hope you have a blast!
I ran a workshop Monday night talking about using voice acting in games - talking about game design, writing, directing and performing. Sort of skimming across the surface of all of them, trying to give some useful things to consider for the jam. You...
Hey lovely people! I’ve been busy beavering away on Navy Boards so things have been a little quiet over here. Good things happening, but I’m struggling to find a balance when it comes to sharing things so that it doesn’t feel like shouting into an already thunderous din.
Here’s some recommendations that might help improve your COVID-19 world.
My amazing personal trainer Stuart McDonald is open to taking on more remote clients...
You can now hear Kevin Powe of Tavern of Voices as part of the incredible cast of Mike Bithell Games’ North Star Rising
To say that I’m honoured to be a part of this is… putting it very mildly. LOOK AT THAT CAST!
The sound design is gorgeous, the music is by Austin Wintory, and the text is a delight. Scroobius Pip just lifts it off the page and gives it so much...
In bit of an unusual twist, you can catch me and regular Tavern of Voices collaborator Colin Smith on the LudoNarraCon stream looping on Steam right now.
It was exciting when Brian Holland of Sun’s Shadow Studios reached out about creating some content for the stream. Streaming all that Sunless Skies definitely helped prepare us for the event. Hopefully you enjoy the stream as much as we enjoyed recording it. It’s still early...
It’s been a little quiet here while responding to the new state of the world, but there’s a couple of things I wanted to share quickly, that might be of help to some.
Peter Castle (assistant advisor to Jacqui Lambie) has some projects in the works that should be employing people casually over the next few months. If you’d like to be kept in the loop, email peter.castle@aph.gov.au
For those of you based...

The experience of working on Battle Chef Brigade was a privilege and a joy, and it was such a wonderful follow-up to meet the team in person at GDC 2018. Battle Chef Brigade remains a flavorsome addition to anyone’s gaming library, and we can’t recommend it enough for the Switch! Here’s Kevin talking more about his experience of working on the game:
Tavern of Voices’ Kevin Powe was at PAX this year talking horror games as part of Brian W. Holland’s The Last Panel On The Left, also featuring Lucy Morris of Starcolt, Andy Astruc, & Isaac Lee lending a clinical perspective. This is the third year the panel has run, but for the first time thanks to some last minute technical wizardry (and the assistance of both the wonderful staff at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre...
Congrats to Tavern of Voices’ Kevin Powe for reaching Twitch affiliate! The experience has proven to be an interesting one in terms of developing community, with a few bits of technical learning along the way.

The Vikings Now Facebook page shared this sneak peek from the trailer currently under development today. It looks bad-ASS!
Watching what regular collaborator Gemma Laurelle is achieving with this series is a constant source of inspiration for us. Can’t wait for the series to be out there for folks to enjoy.
Trinket Studios’ Battle Chef Brigade is now out on PS4! Tavern of Voices’ Kevin Powe is chuffed to be returning to voice the undead necromancer Ziggy, this time as a playable character! Tavern of Voices’ Kevin Powe was delighted to be a part of YOWIE’s opening night at The Backlot Studios in Melbourne.
